Welcome to the new Van Belle family web site, an online virtual reunion.

Our family immigrated from Holland in the mid-20th century to Canada. As the years have passed we are scattered all over the face of the earth - some still in Holland, others in Canada or in the USA. A web destination is a great way to keep the clan together and share our story.

We encourage you to share with us your thoughts, your stories, your photos and artwork. We have received many emails, lists of birthdates, stories and photos - keep them coming!

Enjoy the time you spend here,
Your webmaster ~ Kirsten McGoey (Em and Jake Dykstra's daughter)

NEW : The life story of Albert has been added - his own words describing his immgration to Canada. Check the bios section for this and other exciting content.

DNA Genealogy

Hi all,

This is an invitation to all VanBelle men out there to help me explore our deeper ancestry.  Via the lab run by GeneBase (www.genebase.com) I've sequenced the special DNA markers on my Y chromosome.  Like the Van Belle surname, this chromosome is passed from father to son, and so it can be used to track the ancestry of the name Van Belle, perhaps farther back than could be achieved by searching the records.

If any of you are interested in DNA Geneology, or have already done the tests yourself, I'm interested in hearing from you to compare notes.  I've been keeping track of everything I've learned in a spreadsheet at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=riBa2sbfiNrfo0l6RL8V4Lg&hl=en.

Cheers,
Terry Van Belle

Thanks Albert

Albert noticed that http://web_pigments.tripod.com/vanbelle/index.html did not have an index page. I have now righted that wrong and all visitors to the site will be redirected here.

The Reason for the Move

With the easy use of blogs to post I decided to move this site here from <http://web_pigments.tripod.com/vanbelle/> to hopefully allow for more family to family communications.
